Top Trends to Adapt and Refresh your strategy

As with every industry at the start of a new year, there are numerous reviews and reports. These look back at last year and forward too. Predictions on what marketing trends are going to emerge are everywhere.

How can a business easily identify which trends are right for them to include in their strategy and plan?

Always remember the basics, know your audience, and know where they are. Once you’re talking to the right people, in the right place then you’re halfway there. And once you are in the right place, then have a think about a few new ways of talking to your audience and broadening your reach.

Your Content

“Snackable” content is the new buzz word. It just simply means, short and easily digested. Attention spans are low, and we are bombarded with messages. It’s more likely that 5 separate 20 second clips will be viewed in their entirety, rather than 1 longer blog post. Move away from long passages of text to shorter, simpler formats. “A picture is worth a thousand words” has never been truer.

Your Format

This leads directly from the first point above. Video is huge and is one of the best ways to extend your reach far beyond people that follow your account(s). Tik Tok has very much driven this trend over the past few years, but other platforms have introduced suitable features to exploit. Reels, IGTV, animated posts, they are all easy to create but can be highly effective.

Your People

People buy from people. It’s always been like that and online purchasing hasn’t really changed this. In fact, I do believe that you can use digital channels very positively in this space. What differentiates you and your company? What is your personality, let people see it. Build not only the brand of the company but of the people within it too. Share what is unique and let your audience get to know you.

To date the primary goals of many social media and other digital strategies was cited as “advertising” (HubSpot, 2021). This was closely followed by increasing brand awareness and revenue. There has been a significant shift in thinking for 2022, with many now setting goals to focus on brand awareness and being customer centric (relationship building and customer service). So, make sure you are clear on your goals and then maximise the opportunities to reach your audience.
